The boat runs from Brown’s Point Marina on West Front Street in Keyport and has quick access to the striped bass fishing in Raritan Bay, which the business calls a back-bay fishery. Captain Dan fishes netted bunker live-lined or chunked, trolls bunker spoons, mojos and shad rigs, and casts shad bodies and flutter spoons when that is what is working. Fluke season opens in mid-spring and carries into the autumn, drifted in the back bay or worked out at the Reach, Sandy Hook, Coney Island, the Rockaways and Ambrose Channel. Bluefish, weakfish, porgies, sea bass and blackfish fill the mixed-bag days, with blackfish and sea bass taken around the Sandy Hook Reef.
