Yellowstone River Outfitters
Livingston, Montana · Fishes Yellowstone River
Yellowstone River Outfitters concentrates on the upper Yellowstone, the stretch running from the park boundary at Gardiner down through Emigrant, which the outfit describes as less fished than the lower river. Floats go in drift boats and fishing rafts, and two stretches near Gardiner, Yankee Jim Canyon and the Schoolhouse rapids, are run only with rafts and guides carrying expert whitewater experience. A full day float is generally eight hours at $725 per guide for one or two anglers and includes flies, leaders, rods if needed, cold non-alcoholic beverages and a streamside lunch. A half day float is about four hours at $615, offered morning or afternoon, without lunch. Walk and wade days follow the same rates and can carry up to five anglers per guide for an additional per angler charge. The catch is mostly cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout with occasional whitefish, running from around twelve inches to the occasional twenty plus inch fish.
