Bighorn Trout Shop
Fort Smith, Montana · Fishes Bighorn River
The Bighorn Trout Shop guides on the Bighorn River at Fort Smith, Montana, where the shop and its dining room sit alongside the fishery it works. Guided days are sold in two formats: a half day of roughly four hours on the water for one or two anglers, and a full day that runs six to eight hours for a single angler or seven to eight hours for a pair. A separate Learn to Fly Fish course fills a full day and is built around instruction for one or two people rather than covering as much river as possible. Each trip carries an experienced fishing guide and includes a fly rod and reel, all terminal tackle and flies, beverages, lunch on full-day outings, and transportation to and from the river. Alcohol may be brought along but is not supplied. Brown and rainbow trout are the fish worked here, and the shop takes out beginners as readily as experienced anglers. A two hundred dollar deposit per day of fishing is collected when a date is booked.
