Capt. Bruce Wootten
Snow Hill, Maryland · Fishes Nanticoke River
The Nanticoke fishes very big, so a charter day usually targets one of three areas rather than trying to cover it all: Broad Creek, the Seaford main river, or Marshy Hope Creek. All three are excellent, but tide and seasonal patterns can make a big difference to which one is worth the run. Like most Eastern Shore rivers, the last half of the falling tide and the first of the incoming is the window, and many of the small feeder creeks can be hot spots at times. Several old sunken wrecks hold fish on the Nanticoke, and through the summer the lily pads are always good. A four hour bass special is $300 and a six hour bass charter on any of the listed rivers is $425. Rates include all Maryland and Virginia licences, fishing equipment is provided at no extra charge, and there is never an added charge for gas, oil, ramp fees or tow vehicle fuel. One extra guest comes free and a second is $50.
