Dakota Angler & Outfitter
Rapid City, South Dakota · Fishes Rapid Creek, Spearfish Creek
Dakota Angler & Outfitter is a Rapid City fly shop and guide service covering the trout streams of the Black Hills. Rapid Creek and Spearfish Creek are the two headline waters, and the guide page also lists Box Elder Creek, Spring Creek and Castle Creek as part of the rotation. All of it is wade fishing on small to medium freestone and spring influenced water, so no boats are used. Wild brown trout are the dominant fish, with rainbow and brook trout also present. Trips are booked as half days at 400 dollars or full days at 550 dollars for one or two anglers, with rates scaling for parties of three to six, and state sales tax added. The shop caps its guide to client ratio at one to two, which keeps parties small on narrow creeks. Rods and waders are supplied at no additional cost for anglers who need them, and guides work with beginners as well as experienced anglers. Lunch is carried by the angler on full day trips.
