Kent Edmonds guides the Flint around and through the fall line, water reached at the Highway 18 crossing near Woodbury and below Manchester at GA Highway 36 and Pobiddy Road, with access at Sprewell Bluff State Park, the Big Lazer Creek Wildlife Management Area and the Flint River Outdoor Center on Highway 36. He also fishes 3-Mile Shoals, a private stretch carrying no additional cost to his clients. Canoes and kayaks suit this middle section; small power boats only get through when water levels are high, because the river is a run of numerous shoals and slightly submerged rocks that will drag a hull. Fishing opens in late March or early April, spring through fall is the preferred window, July and August drop the levels without spoiling the fishing, and winter pushes fish deep and slows them down. A half day is four hours at $350 for one or two anglers and a full day six hours at $500, with a third angler adding $100 or $150; boat trips are capped at two anglers and lunch comes with the full day. Shoal bass, largemouth, bream, redbreast sunfish, hybrid and striped bass, white bass, carp, catfish and gar are all on the water. All equipment is included unless anglers prefer their own.
