Laney’s Guide Service
Grand Lake Stream, Maine · Fishes Grand Lake Stream
Laney’s works Grand Lake Stream itself alongside West Grand, East Grand and Spednic lakes, and the season opens at ice-out in mid-April and runs through the fall. April is the ice-out troll on West Grand for landlocked salmon and lake trout, and the craft for it is the traditional Grand Laker canoe, with a twenty-foot Lund Alaskan also in the fleet. Landlocked salmon average two to three pounds, togue run to around twenty, and smallmouth bass fill out the card as the water warms. Trips are sold by the day at four hundred and twenty-five dollars for two anglers, and the guide’s shore lunch is part of the day: steak, chicken, pork or fish with potatoes and the guide’s own coffee.
