Lees Ferry On The Fly
Marble Canyon, Arizona · Fishes Colorado River (Lees Ferry)
Lees Ferry On The Fly is a one boat operation run by Dave Trimble, a USCG licensed captain who has been guiding Lees Ferry since 1999. It works the gin clear tailwater below Glen Canyon Dam on the stretch of the Colorado River above the Grand Canyon, running a custom Koffler jet boat upriver from the launch at Marble Canyon. Guided days are eight hours on the water and cover fuel, fly rods and tackle, flies and lures, with trophy rainbow and brown trout as the target. Fly fishing is 650 dollars for a single angler and 700 dollars for two; spin fishing is 700 dollars for one to three anglers and 800 dollars for four, which makes it a practical option for a family or a larger group in one boat. Alongside the fishing, the business runs a backhaul water taxi at 80 dollars a person, carrying kayaks and paddleboards upriver through Horseshoe Bend for float trips that range from about two hours to a full day, and rents kayaks starting at 40 dollars.
