Float trips work the Gold Medal headwaters of the Arkansas River, including the run through Brown’s Canyon National Monument, with guides picking the sections expected to fish best on the day. Boats go out from Buena Vista. Three lengths are sold: a four hour float at $525 for one angler and $575 for two, a six hour float at $575 and $650, and a full day at $675 and $750. Brown and rainbow trout are the fish. The price covers transportation to and from locations inside Chaffee County, all necessary fishing equipment including flies, snacks and water, with lunch added on full days; a Colorado license is arranged separately and a land and water access fee is added at booking. Some floats include exclusive access to wade fish private property along the way. After runoff drops out the outfitter calls this one of the best hopper dropper fisheries in the country.
