Capt. Rick’s Guide Service is the trading name of Chauffeured Guide Service Inc, a guide business run out of Springfield, Missouri, roughly an hour north of the lake it works. Captain Rick LaPoint owns and runs it and brings over thirty years of experience to it. It is a boat operation and nothing else, with no shop, no lodging and no travel arm; what the company sells is a captained day with the tackle, the bait, the fuel and the cleaning included. Paddlefish snagging is kept as a distinct product with its own rates and its own short legal season, which is unusual among lake guides in the region.
