Cool Water Outfitters
Winchester, Virginia
Cool Water Outfitters, LLC guides in Virginia and West Virginia as an equal-access outfitter and a permittee of the United States Forest Service, with a stated mission of making fly fishing reachable for people who have never tried it. Master guide Tim Freeman leads the team, an outdoorsman with over forty years on the water and in the woods whose forty-acre ranch is in Winchester, Virginia and whose trips over the decades have ranged from high-country cutthroat expeditions in Colorado to introductory classes on his own farm pond. In the Shenandoah Valley the company holds exclusive rights to nearly a mile of private, leased water on Beaver Creek outside Harrisonburg, rated the healthiest spring creek in Virginia, and also fishes secluded public water including Mossy Creek, Spring Creek, the North River delayed-harvest stretch, the Dry River, Ramsey’s Draft, the Jackson River, the Shenandoah River and streams inside Shenandoah National Park. A separate property, Cool Water Ranch, offers nearly two miles of Cedar Creek just outside Winchester as self-guided, fly-only, catch-and-release water capped at five rods a day.
