Superior Fly Angler
Superior, Wisconsin · Fishes Bois Brule River
Superior Fly Angler has run a fly shop and guide service at 310 Belknap Street in Superior since 1997, and books its guided days under the Namebini name. The shop calls the Bois Brule a storied and famous river in northern Wisconsin, roughly 45 minutes from Duluth, and splits its Brule work into two separate programs. Migratory trips run in April and May and again from September into November, walking and wading for steelhead, migratory brown trout and salmon that move in from Lake Superior. In summer the attention shifts upstream to a canoe float on the upper Brule for resident brook, brown and rainbow trout, with the boat limited to two anglers. Alongside the Brule the shop guides more than a dozen North Shore streams between Duluth and the Canadian border, runs a spring wild steelhead season there in April and May, and puts a drift boat on warmwater rivers for smallmouth, pike and musky from June through September. Fly casting instruction is sold separately on an hourly basis.
