Taylor Creek Fly Shops
Basalt, Colorado · Fishes Fryingpan River
The Fryingpan is the closest of the shop’s rivers, worked with the Roaring Fork, the Crystal and the Colorado out of Basalt, less than thirty minutes down valley from Aspen, and the high country streams above them hold brookies and cutthroats. Wade days are $575 for one or two anglers and $675 for three on a half day, $795 and $895 on a full day. Float days are $650 for a half and $875 for a full, for one or two anglers. Waders, boots and rods come with the trip, and lunch comes with a full day; licences, gratuities and flies are extra. The shop guides three hundred and sixty five days a year on the strength of what it calls exceptional fishing year round, though float trips come off the board for roughly six weeks from the tenth of May to the twentieth of June while the spring runoff is up. Children are generally taken from eight to ten years old, and beginners are pointed at a wade day before a float.
