Covert Creek Outfitting

Covert Creek Outfitting, LLC is a Port Jervis, New York guide service that pairs fly fishing with wingshooting rather than running a fly shop. It teaches as well as guides: a separate Learn To Fly Fish programme covers casting, knot tying and fishing ethics for people starting from nothing, and group trips and lessons sit alongside the standard guided days. Its Cast & Blast package, priced at $850 for one or two people, combines three hours on the water with three hours after grouse and woodcock plus a field lunch. The firm stays in contact with clients from the moment of booking through to the date, telling them who their guide will be, where to meet and how conditions are shaping up. Everyone who goes out must hold a current New York State hunting or fishing licence and must file a waiver of liability with the company beforehand, one per participant including minors, and the outfitter points clients at the state’s online licence sales and at the free access permit the New York City water authority requires on some ground.
