Covert Creek Outfitting
Port Jervis, New York · Fishes Neversink River, Willowemoc Creek
Covert Creek Outfitting guides fly anglers in the Catskills around Roscoe, New York, and names the Willowemoc and the Neversink among the variety of water it fishes, along with the Beaverkill, the East Branch of the Delaware, Esopus Creek and a number of small mountain brook-trout streams. The guiding season runs from 1 April to 15 October, with off-season days available on select water. Days are built around the region’s dry-fly fishing and its major mayfly and caddis hatches; between hatches the guides turn to nymphs, streamers or big hoppers worked to the banks for brown, rainbow and brook trout. Every trip booked by a new angler opens with an hour of basic instruction, and the guide-to-angler ratio is capped at one to three. Half days are $350 and full days $500 for one or two anglers, a third angler costs $100 more, and wader, boot, rod and reel rental is $35 a day. Leaders, flies and basic tackle, plus water, soft drinks and snacks, are included, and all fishing is catch-and-release on public water.
