Pisgah Outdoors
Pisgah Forest, North Carolina · Fishes Davidson River
The Davidson River holds three trout species, only one of them native, and Pisgah Outdoors fishes it as some of the most technical water in the Southeast, with healthy populations of wild rainbow, brown and brook trout. Wade trips run three to four hours in the quieter window from July to September and six to eight hours through prime season, taking one or two anglers. Float trips are full day, usually pushing off between eight and ten in the morning and coming off the water between four and six, and are priced by the boat. Start times shift with the calendar, from five in the morning in high summer to nine or ten in early spring. Boots, waders, rod, reel, flies, leaders and tippet are provided, with a small lunch added on a full day.
