Guided days on the Henry’s Fork reach from the Big Springs headwaters through Mack’s Inn and Coffee Pot Rapids, down through Box Canyon between Island Park Dam and Last Chance where the channel narrows to 50 to 100 feet between pines, across the six-mile Harriman Ranch meadow water under the Centennial and Teton ranges, into the canyon floats along the Mesa Falls Byway such as Osbourne to Riverside, and on through the lower river below Ashton Reservoir to the South Fork confluence. Access points used include Last Chance, Harriman State Park, Ora Bridge near Ashton, Vernon, Chester and Fun Farm Bridge, with drift boats on the canyon sections. The hatch list is long, running from midges, salmonflies and golden stones through brown, gray and green drakes, pale morning duns, flavs, tricos, mahogany duns, damsels and terrestrials. On the South Fork of the Snake, the canyon between Spring Creek and Byington holds an overnight camp with floored canvas tents, warm sleeping bags, dinner and an open bar, and July through October is called the best dry fly stretch of that river’s year.

The Teton River is guided as well, sold as walk and wade or float water within thirty miles of the Driggs, Ashton, Island Park and Eagle shops. A full guided day is eight hundred and fifty dollars and a half day of up to four hours is seven hundred and fifty, for two primary anglers, with a hundred dollars for an extra rod on a wade only trip and a Bitch Creek slide in adding two hundred and twenty-five dollars a day. A shuttle to and from the river, a lunch, drinks and instruction are included. Rainbow, cutthroat, cutt-bow and brook trout and whitefish are the fish, over a hatch that runs from large stoneflies in early June through pale morning duns and caddis, baetis, mahogany duns and rusty spinners, hoppers from late July and grey drakes in September.

The Owyhee tailwater sits about an hour and a half from the shop in Eagle and is run as a brown trout trip rather than a numbers trip, on a river the outfitter describes its browns on as simply massive. Boots, waders, rods and reels can all be rented for the day, so a client flying in does not need to bring anything but a licence.
