Etowah Valley Anglers

The home river is the Etowah in northwest Georgia, which the operation calls one of the most reliable migratory striped bass runs in the state. Stripers are on from March through August as the run pushes upriver, while Alabama spotted bass are resident and catchable in every month. Both fly and light-tackle presentations are fished. Two hulls are used depending on flow and stretch, a drift boat and a jet boat, and a trip takes a maximum of two anglers. Full days run eight to ten hours and half days four to five. Fly rods, spin rods, flies and terminal tackle are all supplied, and lunch is a shore-cooked spread of street tacos. Anglers must hold a valid Georgia licence and bring sunglasses and rain gear. When flows or the position of the striper migration make this river unproductive, the crew will move the day to another one. The float itself passes standing Native American stone fish weirs and holds nesting bald eagles.
