Housatonic River Guides
Cornwall, Connecticut · Fishes Housatonic River
Housatonic River Guides is based in Cornwall, Connecticut and is owned and run by Scott, the head guide, and Jeanie. Between them they cover more than twenty miles of the Housatonic across a season that runs from March into November. Days are offered as guided drift trips in purpose built boats or as wade trips, in half day and full day lengths, and multi day packages can be arranged. The river holds brook, brown and rainbow trout along with smallmouth bass, and the guides also run seasonal predator hunts aimed at the trophy pike living in the slower water. Fly fishing instruction is available at every level, from a first cast through to refining technique on moving water. Rods, reels, flies and terminal tackle are provided, and full day trips typically include a streamside lunch. The stretch sits roughly ninety minutes from New York City, which shapes much of the day trip business.
