Hungry Trout Fly Shop
Wilmington, New York · Fishes Ausable River
The home water is the West Branch of the Ausable, running past the shop on New York State Route 86 at Wilmington in the Adirondacks, and the guides also work the Saranac, the Chateaugay, the Salmon and the Boquet. Trips are sold in four and eight hour blocks: a guided walk and wade, a beginners’ day, a private water day and a river float, with a shorter two hour fly fishing experience for anyone who wants a taste rather than a day. A brook trout adventure goes after the small water fish, and an Adirondack boat charter covers the lakes. A shore lunch comes with the full day trips, and groups get the use of a private riverside camp and barbecue area. Trout are the point of the place, with brook trout, smallmouth and pike taken as well, and youth programmes run for younger anglers.
