Jeff’s Lake George Fishing Charter Service
Bolton Landing, New York · Fishes Lake George
Captain Jeff Smith fishes Lake George from a fully equipped 26-foot Sea Sport with an onboard head, and all bait and tackle is supplied. Spring lake trout and salmon come from trolling near the brook mouths with Rapalas and streamers on light four- to six-pound line, sometimes with eight lines out at once, most of them right on the surface and a couple set twelve feet down. When the water reaches about forty-three degrees the smelt run up the brooks to spawn and become the primary forage. Through summer the fish drop away and the boat trolls from fifty down to a hundred and ten feet on light line off downriggers, and in October the salmon head back to the brooks. Between those patterns the boat hits the weed beds for northern pike and works the islands for smallmouth bass, and winter brings ice trips with a heated shanty.
