Stonefly Outfitters
Twin Bridges, Montana · Fishes Jefferson River, Ruby River
On the Ruby the outfitter works more than thirty miles of trout water running from the Ruby Dam at Alder all the way to the confluence with the Big Hole and Beaverhead at Twin Bridges. It is predominantly a brown trout fishery, turning up more rainbows the higher up the system you go, fished largely on foot and rated best from June through September at flows of roughly two hundred to three hundred cfs, over midge, caddis and pale morning dun hatches. The Jefferson is the river those three rivers form at Twin Bridges, and it is sold here as eighty miles of floatable water with good wading opportunities, early stonefly hatches, heavy streamer work for larger than average trout, and very little angling pressure.
