Betts Guide Service

A Michigan guide service owned by Chad Betts and based in Newaygo, about forty-five minutes north of Grand Rapids, listed as a professionally endorsed fly fishing outfitter since 1996. It runs both fly and light tackle trips for salmon, steelhead and trout. The Muskegon is its primary river, and the boats also work the Big Manistee, Pere Marquette, White, Au Sable and Grand, which lets the operation follow fish across west and northeast Michigan through the year. Alongside guided days it provides fly fishing instruction and casting lessons, posts daily fishing reports, and runs eco nature tours for guests who want time on the river without rods. Hotel recommendations are offered for anglers coming in from out of the area.

Beyond its home rivers the business works the Muskegon and the Big Manistee, and it runs a fleet rather than a single boat: custom aluminium jet boats built for the shallow gravel water common in Michigan, and custom Hyde drift boats kept for trout work.
