Taos Fly Shop

The Rio Grande is the shop’s main river and it is sold in several shapes: a full day wade, a morning or an afternoon half day, a full day float, and camp floats of two or three days through the Rio Grande Box, the deep gorge stretch below Taos. The Red River and its hatchery water, the Costilla, the Conejos over the Colorado line and the streams of the Valle Vidal fill out the rest of the guided water, so a booking can be moved off the big river when it runs high or off colour. Rainbows are what the shop’s own fishing report counts. Beginners are taken on as readily as experienced anglers, since the shop runs fly fishing schools alongside the trips and treats a first day on the water as a teaching day.
