Duranglers is a full service fly shop and outfitter at 923 Main Avenue in Durango, Colorado, founded on December 10, 1983 by John Flick and Tom Knopick, who still own it. It is an Orvis endorsed operation with roughly twenty guides on staff, including specialized instructors. The retail floor carries rods, reels, waders and boots, flies, lines, leaders and tippet, fly tying supplies, nets, sunglasses, packs, vests, clothing and headwear. Classes and casting instruction are offered through the shop’s own instructor. Durango’s position in the Four Corners gives the guide service a wide spread of water to work: the Animas through town, the Rio Grande, the Piedra, the Dolores above and below McPhee Reservoir, the Los Pinos and Florida rivers, high country lakes, private water, and the San Juan on both the Colorado and New Mexico sides.
On the Animas the same shop counts more than thirty years of fishing and guiding the river, and its wider range takes in the Rio Grande, the Dolores, the Pagosa Springs waters, Vallecito Lake, Nighthorse Lake and the high country lakes.
