Brads Igiugig Lodge
Igiugig, Alaska · Fishes Kvichak River
The lodge sits where Lake Iliamna drains into the Kvichak, a few steps from a river that carries the largest run of sockeye salmon in the world past the door, and the fishing is built around that position. A stay is seven nights, Saturday to Saturday, with six full guided days inside it, and because the schedule runs weekend to weekend guests can fish the day they arrive and the day they leave. Days alternate between the jet boat on the Kvichak itself and the Cessna 206 float plane for fly-outs to nearby Bristol Bay rivers, with two fly-outs included. The river produces trophy rainbow trout and grayling alongside the salmon, with silvers running from the middle of August, kings from mid-June to the end of July, sockeye late June into July, chum through July and early August and pinks from mid-July. Rods, reels, flies, equipment, boats, planes and fuel are included at 9700 dollars per person, as are meals, drinks and daily room and laundry service; the air taxi from Anchorage, the state licence, the king stamp and gratuities are not.
